Casa do Infante, so designated as the birthplace of Henry the Navigator, is a complex of buildings that were built to house the services of the Crown in Port: Customs, Mint and Treasury. Its history dates back to 1325, when King Afonso IV ordered the construction of the "Almazem" royal, against the will of the Bishop, then lord of the town. The building was the object of a process of rehabilitation and musealization and today it offers a diverse set of valences: Museum; Municipal Historical Archives; Library of Porto Affairs; Memory Room; Exhibition Hall and Auditorium. In the museum, visitors can see and appreciate traces of Roman occupation - such as the first Low-Empire mosaics found in Porto - medieval and modern in the riverside area of Oporto, with an emphasis on the old Customs and Casa da Moeda.
