Museum created with the ambitious program of representing the cultures of the globe and not restricted only in Portugal or to overseas domains under its management. Contains an ethnographic collection from mainly countries and Portuguese-speaking communities but also from other regions of the world, especially the collections of the Makonde people and the Amazonian Indians (Galleries of the Amazon) , a total of 35,000 objects. Also noteworthy is an important nucleus of Portuguese agricultural implements patent in the Gallery Vida Rural.
