According to historians, the convent was founded in 1154, by Queen D. Mafalda, yet there are vestiges of a pre-Romanesque temple on the site. Of note: the staircase of the second half of the century XVIII which allows to reach the church, with rococo facade, inside which there is a remarkable set of religious sculptures. This building also has fabulous 17th century tiles. The convent of the building hosts one of the most beautiful Pousadas in Portugal.
