They occupy an area of more than 18 hectares. In the center is the 19th century palace which currently works as a luxury hotel and around it, an area where exotic and secular species predominate. The southern slope is covered by a forest, ideal for long walks and where a Medieval Garden was created. Here are about 50 species of plants, whose existence before the Age of Portuguese discoveries (or the Great Navigations) is confirmed by engravings and documents of the time. Memories have accumulated in these gardens since the 14th century, both in built and natural elements, in popular legends and in its own history. It is worth discovering and, above all, feeling the magic of a space with a unique romantic atmosphere, referred to as the setting for the forbidden romance of King D. Pedro I with D. Inês de Castro, through some of the most beautiful pages of Portuguese literature. Visits only by appointment.
