The Torre de Belém is one of the most impressive monuments in the city of Lisbon. Located on the right bank of the river Tagus and initially surrounded by the waters around its perimeter, it was progressively surrounded by the beach, until today it is incorporated to the mainland. The monument is all surrounded by decorations of the Coat of Arms of Portugal, including inscriptions of crosses of the Order of Christ in the bastion windows. Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1983, it has been elected as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
