The National Theater opened its doors on April 13, 1846, during the celebrations of the 27th birthday of Queen Maria II (1819-1853), and for this reason it displayed its name in its official designation. However, the building we know today, which respects the original neoclassical style, was completely rebuilt after a brutal fire that took place in 1964. Considering the importance of theater in society, TNDM II has the priority of opening the Theater to the community, attracting and forming new audiences, taking cultural and artistic activities to all levels of the population that raise their standards of aesthetic and critical demands.
