Documented as the last residence of João Gonçalves Zarco, discoverer of Madeira Island, this Madeira Estate represents more than 500 years of the island's history. The Quinta das Cruzes Museum consists of the former residence of Morgados das Cruzes, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade and a beautiful garden that includes the greatest treasure of the space: the Orchestrophone. To get to know and hear it, you have to ask an employee to open the wooden box that holds this rare musical instrument. The Museum integrates elements from the most diverse sources, but above all Churches, Convents, and Public Buildings, some of which date back to the end of the century. XV. You will be able to appreciate rare collections of porcelain, silver, faience, sculpture and painting. The garden has indigenous species from the island and is part of the Botanical Gardens network in the region.
