Lagoa do Fogo, or Fire Lake, is a picturesque crater lake located on the island of São Miguel in the Azores archipelago. It is the largest freshwater lake in the Azores, and is situated in the center of the island, surrounded by lush green hills and towering cliffs.
The lake gets its name from the fact that it was formed by volcanic activity, and the surrounding landscape is evidence of this, with the remnants of volcanic cones and craters visible in the distance.
Despite its name, Lagoa do Fogo is actually a peaceful and serene place, with crystal clear waters and a tranquil atmosphere. Visitors can hike along the trails that surround the lake, taking in the stunning views and enjoying the fresh air.
