The Almendres cromlech It is one of the most impressive testimonies of the Iberian megalithic civilization. It dates from the Neolithic period and is 12 km west of Évora. On a land in the midst of olive groves and cornfields, several sensitively concentric lines of menhirs are drawn. Some of these still bear traces of paintings or drawings that archaeologists think are associated with ancient cults of the stars and the earth.
