The Alfândega do Porto, a building of neoclassical typology with more than 150 years old, has two facades, one facing the Douro river and the other facing the city. The structural solutions resorted to the use of iron in conjunction with other materials - stone, brick or wood - depending on the functionality of the different spaces. In total, there are 36 000 m² of living space and 22 multifunctional spaces. It also integrates a congress center that has all the necessary material to hold any type of event, which has been considered "Best Congress Center in Portugal" and "Best Meetings and Conference Center in Europe", for having unique conditions in the national and international scene. Here, a wide range of cultural events are hosted, such as exhibitions, concerts and parades.
